How I Attained My Medical Career

I vividly remember how I was taught and pursued my career dream. The school had and still has a very strong and vibrant administration and staff. I received rare orientation in the entire first week of joining senior five on the nature and gravity of my combination. The school had competent science teachers who gave me a lot of guidance, adequate materials, regular standard sets of exams, exposure and remedials. The Matco teachers generally were and are still well motivated, experienced and love their school and care for all learners. They used to organize subject based discussions. They taught us how to do personal revision schedules and summaries.

Literature Made Me A Heroine

When I told my mum that I wanted to study Literature she just shouted me down. I was not shaken not because I disobeyed her but I was determined to try it at all costs. My dream was to be a lawyer or a business administrator. I’d heard that to achieve my dream I had to study Literature. Much as I was a bright girl, I sought the guidance and counseling of my director and mentor Lawyer Magellan Kazibwe who encouraged me to take Literature. I accepted. I started reading al the abridged versions of “The Things Fall Apart”; ”The Cry, My Beloved Country”; ”No Longer At Ease”; ”Oliver Twist” and many others right from senior one. By the end of senior two, I was very fluent in oral and written English. I used to chair the debates for “O” level and became a very good speaker.

What A Fruitful Journey at MATCO for 6 Years? A Story of Growth and Gratitude.

The school administration professionally treated the young ladies with rare care. The conducive academic environment, well-motivated, competent and experienced staff shaped my academic journey. They taught me very well. I received regular counseling. I was prepared very well in sciences right from form one. I loved Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Physics because of the best foundation I obtained from the competent science teachers who made those subjects simplified and enjoyable.

The First MATCO “A” level Student is an Accountant.

I vividly recall the very many times our dear director Mr. Kazibwe used to organize and with his administration and staff gave us regular highly informative, educative and inspirational career guidance talks on top of the enormous sacrifice he made in teaching at night and on weekends, yet he had to look for money from outside the school to sustain the young school. I was always amazed by that gentleman’s diligence, resilience, sacrifice and commitment up to date. I was almost getting “off truck” due to adolescence and peer pressure but he singled me out and gave me special counseling that made me more focused and eventually passed my UACE UNEB exams very well.

The Exciting Twins Who Broke the Science Record

We joined Matco in 2008 in senior one. We were received by the parental staff with excitement we being twins. We started off with the best orientation, counseling and guidance from the director and his team. They took us through the school expectations. We were given very formidable foundation in all subjects. The school’s daily program was justifiably tight. The teachers were punctual, organized, well motivated and committed to register excellent performance in their respective subjects.

MATCO First Student Got A First Grade

I remember vividly our diligent and committed director Mr. Kazibwe who exhibited rare seriousness and extraordinary care used to, on top of teaching counsel and guide us regularly. We had dedicated and well motivated staff. The library and science laboratory were well equipped. The school environment was and is still very conducive for studies. All these factors enabled me to get a first grade in UCE UNEB exams. My career ambition was to be a teacher and indeed I became one. I have a good government job and proud of my achievements in the education sector.

A Shy Boy Became MATCOAA Leader

I was very well oriented, taught groomed and counseled by our dedicated staff. We had very stiff competition in our classes. I became one of the best candidates in senior four in the UCE UNEB 2006 results where I got a first grade of 18 Aggregates in best 8 subjects. Much as I had performed very well in PLE with a first grade; I was groomed into an academic giant by my beloved teachers of Matco. We had very many first grades that year in my class of the Kayembas, Ssegawas, etc. this was made possible by our very vibrant Director, the competent administration and staff.

The Tale of the Blessed Head Girl.

The school had well trained, devoted and committed science teachers. We had no quacks. The teachers offered us a strong foundation. We conducted normal lessons and overtime learning. We had a well stocked science laboratory. We conducted regular practicals in Physics. The same applied to my fellow science “takers” of that time. We held regular discussions, internal and also attended external seminars. We had stiff competition in class. The school motivated the best candidates and staff every year with attractive prizes. The natural law stipulates that climbing a ladder to reach success with hands in pocket is worse than falling. Many “A” level students had passed well. I personally worked harder and excelled in my subject combination every term, thanks to our diligent well motivated staff.

MATCO - The School of Wonders and Contentment

MATCO, as we fondly call it, is a well planned and organized centre of excellence with very conducive learning environment. We have a very resourceful, inspirational, vibrant, competent and dedicated staff led by my icon and the ever smart director of the college counsel Magellan Kazibwe. We all refer to him as our best role model. He inspires me every day. The college has a very well equipped library with the various text books and a modern computer laboratory where we conduct extensive research in line with the current trends and requirements for the effective learning under the competence based curriculum. There is stable internet through out the term. Still, we have a modern science laboratory.

The Matco Special Care Nurtured Me Into A Caring Nurse.

I joined and studied at Matco between 2003 and 2005 in “A” level. I took PCB/M as my combination. The school had a very conducive learning environment. The administration was organized and strong. I landed into the hands of caring, professional, dedicated and competent science teachers. They were well motivated. They loved their school. They prepared me with sufficient exposure in the area of my dream. I was given regular tests on top of the home work of very many UNEB standard questions from senior five up to end of senior six. The teachers subjected us to weekend and night prep exams, marked them promptly and would conduct remedials the next day. Our science laboratory was well equipped. We conducted very many practicals. Indeed Matco knew what a science learner deserved.

The First Female Accountant Reminisces Her Glorious Time at MATCO

From the time I stepped into MATCO up to the time I exited; I received wonderful care, counseling, nurturing and training . I remember well, the daily program of the school was balanced with studies and the dabates, quiz, music, dance, drama, football, netball, leadership and religious moments. We were trained to be all-round students. I liked leadership, debates and music. I was in the school church choir. I was one of the leading debaters. On the side of academics, MATCO offered me the best foundation in all subjects. I had a dream of being an accountant. I was given counseling by the school proprietor Mr. Magellan Kazibwe right from senior one on what to take to achieve my dream. He, together with the vibrant, committed and caring teachers offered us open forum to “air” out our concerns and worked on them.

Matco Bursary Scheme Rescued Me

I received regular counseling and guidance from my director and the entire Matco family because I was a very poor boy with a jobless single mother who’d no income. I was encouraged and decided to work very hard and indeed I never scored less than 85% in senior one to senior two. When I reached senior three, I got 21 Aggregates in the best 8 subjects in the 1^st term. The parental director cautioned me and I realized I was going to lose my bursary.

Masaka Town College is a prestigious secondary school in Uganda established in 2002.
