MATCO was founded on extensive research. The administration designed a special room within the magnificent infrastructure to be the conventional library. It has well plastered and painted walls with light sky blue, white and cream skin emulsions. Still, different artistic designs were drawn on those walls to add beauty to the reading room. During breaks they attract a learner to view.
Still, the large library facility has big windows with ventilations, wire mesh and glasses to allow adequate entry of fresh oxygen and exit of carbon dioxide. The windows and doors have burglar proofs to guarantee safety and security of the library materials.
There is more to the above. In order to make the library beautiful, the school administration put in modern floor tiles, fixed curtain rails running on the walls with different professionally drawn and accurate academic charts of diagrams for different organs or items in all the subjects offered at MATCO. This imagery enables the learner to view, visualize and memorize the actual academic phenomena entailed in such images.
Furthermore, the facility has carefully designed shelves made of strong factory refined timber, which distinctive compartments. They are galvanized with wire mesh with locks to protect the materials inside them. The shelves were painted with attractive colours to make the learner appreciate the quality of the materials kept there.
The library is spacious and organized with modern tables with fixed benches which make the readers and researchers sit comfortably. The furniture therein cannot be transferred. The learners receive the textbooks and other research materials from the shelves. They borrow other materials from the professional and smart librarians. They carry out their research and leave the books on the tables. Thereafter, the librarians reshelve them.
Most importantly, the MATCO library is unique, for it is adequately stocked with modern up to date adequate textbooks, commentaries, novels, treatises, pamphlets, researched findings, periodical UNEB reports on examinations, past papers, question banks, maps, charts with various diagrams, internal previous marking guides, handouts, compiled standard departmental notes, examination papers and marked scripts, periodicals, magazines, newspapers; journals and other relevant materials. All the subjects taught at the college have adequate resources and references. The learners have a variety to conduct research, compare and contrast to come up with the best findings.
Noteworthy, the school ensures that every new edition of a text book or pamphlet or any other relevant publication is procured promptly on the advice of the specific subject teacher. Every term the administration reviews the old materials and conducts extensive research to find out if there are new useful materials on the market. The director regularly visits UNEB and NCDC offices and websites to establish and procure timely new productions for the school to use them.
The library is run and controlled by well-motivated professional librarians who keep and maintain all the records there, enforce the library rules and regulations, carry out stock taking and prepare periodical reports on the status of the facility.
