Dormitories & Lavatories

The school has separate well planned modern and spacious girls and boy’s dormitory. They are plastered internally and externally with attractive colours. All the floors have modern tiles to keep them very clean. They have large metallic windows and doors with glasses to allow entry of fresh oxygen and the exit of carbon dioxide. They are divided, that is the young ones in senior one and two residing in their own dormitory, then senior three in their own, senior four in their own and the “A” level learners also residing in their own dormitory.

The internal wall finishings are superb. The walls have nice white and creams silk emulsions with a grey skirting. The windows have burglar proofs and locks. They have entry and exit doors that act as emergency evacuation outlets. They have fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and CCTV cameras. There’s no congestion. All the beds are metallic and double deckers. Each learner sleeps on his or her decker alone. The prefects stay in their special rooms. There is no loss or theft of properties. All the learners have mosquito nets hanged on top of their beds. There is no bulling and molesting of any learner.

Still, the dormitories are kept very clean and tidy. The learners suit cases are kept in a special corner. They’re always locked with each learner keeping his or her key. All the learners’ properties are supposed to be labeled with regular supervision on them.

Important still, the dormitories are close and served with modern lavatories or toilets. The lavatories have many separate rooms. The young learners have their own bath rooms separate from the older ones. They are fenced with strong perimeter walls to maintain privacy and security. The girls’ lavatories also have the incinerators for disposal and burning of used sanitary towels (pads). These places of convenience are regularly fumigated and kept free from vectors and any mess.

Regarding wash bays, the college created modern distinct and spacious washing bays for girls and boys. They are cemented with water drainage channels which carry the waste water in the soak pits. These areas are served with enough hanger lines, wires and pipes to cause drying of clothes. The washing bays have steep platforms for drying shoes and sandals. The learners use buckets and basins for laundry. No bathing is allowed on the washing bays.

The school administration constantly checks on the status of the dormitories, lavatories and washing bays. The dormitories are run and controlled by the matrons and wardens. They prepare reports on every aspect and actions are taken by the administration. The cleaning is done by the school cleaners.
